Farmer's Market
A few weekends ago we took Jack to the Farmer's Market in downtown Dallas. Jack rode in his piggy pack... (I was afraid that we wouldn't get good use out of the piggy pack, but it has come in so handy and Jack really loves it!)

We heard some fun street music! Jack was of course enthralled with the guy with the harmonica... he's my little music man!

And of course we had some samples! Jack was thoroughly enjoying this part of our little tour. Watermelon was his favorite.

Nice Memory for a Yucky Day
Today is yucky! it's all cold and rainy! Kinda makes me weary... so I thought I'd post some fun warm day pics to cheer me up a bit!
On Monday Aaron had some of the afternoon off so we went for a hike! Here's some highlights...
Mommy and Jack before the hike... this is the only pic of me since i had the camera the rest of the trip, but here's the evidence that I was there too! This is Jack's new hat that he wont wear!!
Jack enjoyed the ride in his piggy pack and hitting daddy in the head with sticks:

Daddy and Jack just chillin' waiting on camera happy mommy to catch up:
Jack was leaving a trail just in case we got lost:

this was a stinkin' big tree that we saw... it didn't look big in the picture until aaron stood next to it:
Crossing the creek:
Jack likes to touch the trees:
Getting refueled after the hike with some water and a bar:

Ready to go back out?:
Jack's shirtless ride home after pouring that water bottle that you saw earlier all over himself:

These are some nature pics that i snapped along the way. I put them in a slide show for those of you that would rather skip over them quickly! I had fun taking them and will bring the better camera next time!

A Blog for Penny: Kitchen Pandemonium
My friend Penny (well actually a youth-hood friend of Aaron's who I claim now because she's a wonderful gal) posted a blog the other day that I felt I should respond to...
Penny you are not the only one!! In fact I thought your kitchen looked pretty good! So anyone who is reading this and is brave enough I challenge to post pics of your kitchen! or are Penny and I the only ones who deal with the traumatic never ending kitchen disaster zone?
I should note for my benefit that our kitchen is a tiny alley that makes me want to scream. I've never been claustrophobic, but this kitchen is close to pushing me over to a new phobic level!! There is no place for anything!!!
My Fridge: note the storage on top!! I've tried unsuccessfully to add baskets for a less obvious lack of storage solution. Magnets are the friends that hold my friends as well as junk that needs to be tossed!
even Jack's portion of the fridge is somewhat cluttered, but my favorite part of the kitchen. If you look closely you'll see that the floor is also home to Jack's magnets!
My Sink: home to dishes... even after I wash with in minutes it is full again! the never ending kithen cycle at it's best work!
My Counter: with my unopened planner that is supposed to help me stay organized and my unchecked todo list!
My Junk Corner: Yes, Penny I too have a junk corner and not a junk drawer... If I had more than two drawers in my kitchen I would consider a junk drawer! (again the basket has not contained the mess) ... actually what you can't see is that the junk corner tends to spread down the rest of the bar as well.

The Coffee Corner: Ha, this would the the only clean nook in the place. I guess the world now knows where our priorities lie!!

Ironic Socks
Ironically the other day my friend Sandi asked me if Jackson needed socks... she had seen a good sale that she wanted to tell me about... Why ironic?? Well the day before we caught Jackson in the backseat playing with his toes... not weird except that he had socks on. Aaron somehow was able to hold the camera without Jack noticing and grab this video!! We were cracking up!! So what do you think? Does Jackson need new socks?? He walked around all day with his toe sticking out!!

The Boy Lucas and Today's Experiments With Food!
My wonderful nephew Lucas turned 8 on Monday!! 8 holy moley!!! Lucas is such a great, talented, caring kido!
He loves to
write songs and
draw and
play video games and
climb things and
loves animals
...he made his entire class Valentines from scratch this year... that's the kind of kid he is! Creative juices ooze from him as does thoughtfulness for others. I love all of my nephews so much.
Here's Lucas when he was about 1!

Here's our little man now!

Well, yesterday Lucas called me on the way to school for a special favor! I have gotten so excited since then! His party in on Saturday and he has chosen a Dog theme... can Indee come, I'm wondering?
Lucas needs some dog biscuits for his party. So I made some shortbread dog bones! It was fun creating them and experimenting with colors and stuff... they look REAL!! I'm excited!

Jack also experimented with food today! Pureed green beans, brown rice and turkey dinner from a jar... turkey dinner from a jar just sounds so wrong! Here are the results of his endeavors!
